Three things that make a Christmas game go better

Play the chorus, not the intro.

Half of these songs open with thirty seconds of sleigh bells that all sound identical. Skip into each track until the vocal starts, give it twenty seconds, then move on. A 60-song list runs about forty minutes that way, which fits between courses at a sit-down dinner.

Two short games beat one long one.

At a work party people arrive in waves, and nobody wants to sit through a full-card game while colleagues are still at the coat check. Run a four-corners round first — ten minutes, early winner — then a full-card round after the food.

Read the room before using the list as-is.

A few of these are wonderful in a pub and awkward at a company event. If yours is the second kind, swap "Fairytale of New York" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for two more crooners. Nobody has ever complained about Nat King Cole.
